The Defy Bags iPad mini sleeve offers a practical option with decent protection. The materials and craftsmanship are a cut above the rest and the Horween leather is fantastic. I was looking for a good blend of functionality, quality and timeless design and this product hits the mark.

Beautiful quality, but...

I wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised by the quality. Equally, I was glad that there was no unabated over-branding on this product! Part of the appeal is its natural simplicity.
However, my one gripe is that the description above claims that the sleeve "Fits iPad Mini with and without a smart cover".
Without the smart cover? Perfect! However, with the smart cover? At first, it's quite a tight fit, and took maybe 20 seconds with some pushing and pulling at the leather/iPad mini to get it into the sleeve. Getting out is a bit more stressful tugging at various corners, which generally left me a bit disappointed. I was almost at the brink of sending it back.
Although, I've put the iPad mini with a smart cover into the sleeve about three times now, it is getting easier with use, as expected.
4 stars: good quality, but maybe too tight beyond practicality to include a smart cover.
