I need to go home now. I’ve been outside wandering too long. What day is it anyway? People might start to shutter their windows wondering who this wandering person is endlessly walking around with his backpack. I don’t want to become a menace to society. Ever since designing this new backpack I’ve just been finding myself looking for an excuse, any excuse to wear it outside. I have to confess, I even dumped out the last of our coffee beans in the trash so I could ‘volunteer’ to buy more from the store, wearing my new backpack of course. It's great for shopping. There’s truly just something about this bag that’s just so right. The right proportions: Not too big, not too small. The right amount of storage: Not too little, not too much. The right materials: Overkill in every way. And don't even get me started on comfort. I think it’s caused me to forget to eat. This isn’t good. Did anyone hear my stomach rumble? I keep playing with the imported AustriAlpin™ COBRA®  Quick-Release buckle too. That ‘click’ sound is the metallic equivalent of a primal scream. That’s the sound of quality. The look of the buckle is so rad it’s menacing my mind I tell you! I just want to keep opening the bag so I get to experience this buckle again, and again, and again. I need to get my head checked. Or do I?

Maybe this menacing mania isn’t menacing at all and is just the thing I’ve needed my whole life. Maybe there will someday be an army of other wanderers and wanderlusters just like me, wearing the same backpack, looking for their reasons to be outside exploring the world 24-7. If that’s considered ‘Menacing’, then consider me someone who will DEFY right along side you. The Menace movement has only just begun.

Great bag, Defy quality

I’ve been using mine daily for the past few months now. This is a little long: First, build quality: if you have other Defy stuff, you know what to expect (I have a briefcase from 2012 that’s still in excellent shape, with 0 repairs). If you aren’t familiar, it’s made exceptionally well. Everything is rock solid, satisfying to use (those buckles will never get old), and built to outlast time and your own stupidity. As for design, it looks like the pictures. This is perfect for anybody who needs to carry a laptop + some extras that won’t fit in a briefcase, without having to lug around a bigger bag. The tiny leather strap rings/holders are really nice, especially for those of us who pull the straps really tight. (Toss on a Mr. Gripper for a little flair and comfort.) Aside from the front and top pouches, the inside can fit a drill and an impact side-by-side and a couple batteries between them, with plenty of space on top for gear pouches, clothes, trading cards, a pineapple…whatever you’re into. Rain? It laughs. I was initially concerned about the laptop padding, with two drills potentially crashing into it inside. Sure enough, within the first week, I dropped it from heights of 3’-6’ onto concrete/tile several times: straight down, on its back, and on its front. The laptop is completely unscathed (a T14s, which fits like a glove). My one gripe is that, if it’s fairly empty, the weight/balance is a little odd and it wants to tip. That’s gonna be an issue for any bag without a hard underside, but the weight of the top compartment probably compounds that slightly. I’ve moved my lightest stuff to the top, which has improved it. TL;DR: It’s built incredibly well, it’s roomier than you’d think, and the laptop compartment is really, really good.

Awesome travel and commuter bag!

Extremely durable, stylish, loads of storage and can be used as a travel bag. This guy was able to withstand downpours when I was cycling to work and take the abuse of traveling around the world. Pretty solid bag.

DEFY

Yes! Love the stories of it holding up to rain ;) Thanks for the review, Tia.
