Recon Large

Search the field. Survey the terrain. Or hell, just take it to the corner coffee shop. The Recon Series is a suitable tool for any mission on the face of the earth. Defy is hand-crafting rugged reclaimed and military contractor sourced M35 24 oz vinyl/canvas and mashing them up with $60.00 worth of 2” solid steel and brass, imported AustriAlpin Cobra quick release buckles used by U.S. Special Forces. Drop it. Kick it. Or toss it from the cargo hold at 20,000 ft over hostile territory; Recon’s military spec stitching and hand-crafted in Chicago attitude can take it. Solid steel swivel clips and hardware fly the finger to the incessant over use of flimsy plastic found on most bags. Take a look inside and you’ll see ample room and pockets with a designated section for a 15” MacBook Pro. Look under the flap and you see a uniquely simple double pocket solution that uses a smart organization system for pens, business cards and top secret organizational opportunities. Stop looking...Recon’s here.

PROUDLY HAND-CRAFTED IN THE UNITED STATES.

  1. Love it!

I'm loving my new bag. I use it as a combo work/ gym bag, and it's roomy without being too bulky, fits everything I need, and looks great. The bag is durable, well constructed, and the legendary buckles are, indeed, very cool. I also have to say that the Defy customer service was phenomenal. When I asked about shipping the bag on time for an upcoming trip, I received a reply within an hour and was told that the bag would ship that day.

  2. my new work bag

This is my 3rd Defy bag and my favorite. I now have to lug around a MacBook Pro Retina and some other gear for work. It comfortably holds all the gear I need for the day and isn't overly large at only a 3.5" depth. There are enough pockets for basic organizing, along with pen and card holders.

Great materials. Comfortable handle and strap. Great customer service. Made in America. It's all good.

$322 is not inexpensive, but I plan on using this bag for many years, and laptops, to come. I'll end up saving money since the yearly itch for a new Timbuk2 or Tom Bihn bag have disappeared. This is the real deal...

I travel every week and this has replaced both my briefcase and suitcase. I fly through the airport.

  4. A gift that I will use for many years to come, perfect for my busy days

I was given the recon bag for Fathers Day a couple a weeks, I have come to one conclusion .... I love the Recon.
Been a field tech, looking after an number of site I carry a small amount of tools - this bag is well suited for the day-to-day tools I need. I no longer have to carry my laptop bag and another bag for tools, it now all fits in the recon. Everything has a place in this bag, the iPad, laptop, data cable tracer, power supply, etc, etc all have a that feels right.
I know when I close the bag and through it in the back of the car and open it, everything is were i left it ... It all feels right.
Chris & Defy - the quality and craftsmanship of this bag is just outstanding, I love the feel of it when I open & close it, the sound of those buckles is music to my ears !!!!!
    love it
PS I hope my wife gets me a iPad selve for Christmas ...

  5. Like a vintage pair of Levi's or a classic 50's Mercedes

Basically the Defy Recon reminds me of classic items that were over-engineered to last. The Recon certainly isn't the most refined messenger I own, but it will fit in in most work environments just fine. I have to give it top marks because you just want to use the hell out of it, yet you know that it'll be more than up to the task.

Just a note the bag is obviously wider than the First Class so if you don't pack a lot of things in the Recon it will be slightly flimsy or "bend" around you, but since I throw tons of stuff in it, it's been perfect for me.

Overall, I really like the bag and Chris was great to work with. Would definitely recommend it to people looking for good, quality-made items with character.

  6. Recon is truly an incredible bag

I was a bit leery buying this bag because of it's cost. But so many of the great 17" laptop bags are either douchey or even more expensive, so after seeing Defy's video I thought I'd give it a shot.
Called them to ask questions and the founder called me. He said that if I didn't like it just ship it back and he'd make it right either with an exchange or a refund. I got the bag, and after touching the killer black canvas material in person, then opening the 2" special forces buckles, I knew I dug it. Fits a ton, but doesn't feel too heavy. Love this bag, Defy!!! Problem is, now I'm also considering the First Class small too ;) thanks for the great work guys. Coop.
