Equal straight sides. Four right angles. Hell, this ain’t math class but lets just get one thing out there...it’s hip to be square. Plane. Simple. Straightforward and mild mannered get a squared off back roundhouse kick in the teeth from a $30.00 a piece imported solid steel and brass 2” AustriAlpin Cobra quick release buckle. The same buckles used by Special Forces. That ain't square at all yo! Rugged US Military contractor sourced M35 military 22 oz vinyl/canvas truck tarpaulins are hand-crafted in Chicago using military spec thread, and solid steel swivel clips and hardware fly the finger to the incessant over use of flimsy plastic found on most bags. M35 Military truck tarpaulin vinyl/canvas is the same heavy duty tarpaulin used to protect US service members in theater today. It's thick, matte, rubbery feel makes for an incredibly durable bag material which with use over time starts to soften & wear nicely taking on a different patina and character. While it's tougher than the vast majority of tarp material used by other bag companies with enough beating, use and life it can eventually show signs of wear. Those wear marks are a badge of honor! It's military tough as hell for sure, but nothing's indestructible even though it may look it! The Square is hand-crafted on the gritty west side of Chicago using industrial machines and techniques learned from disassembling vintage military bags. Just get squared away!

I just got the large square in the mail. First impression is that this is the bag that transitions between a bike messenger bag and a briefcase--just what I was looking for. Very nice production quality with great material and attention to detail. You could definitely bike a lot of miles with this on your back, but you could also carry this when you wear a suit. And the Cobra buckle is a very functional and cool element of the bag.

I wanted a bag that could still handle toting my laptop + iPad, be unobtrusive, carry easily on the train/bus, and not look out of place when I have to dress up for work.
The square large fits all of those needs perfectly. It's relatively thin, and with the carry strap or top handle it's easy to slide it around and get on a packed train car without being "that guy". I wish the front pockets were a little wider so they could fit an iPad mini instead of having it inside the bag, but otherwise I have no other qualms.

I'd been looking for a new bag made from reused materials but didn't forget about style to replace old nylon messenger bag. As soon as I unpacked the Square Large bag I knew I found what I was looking for.
The deep exterior, under-flap pockets are perfect for carrying pens, pencils, notebooks, and smaller electronics. I can easily fit my iPad, a couple magazines, and a sketchbook in the interior. I think I can get a light jacket in there too -- I'll test it out as soon as it gets colder down here.
And I'll just briefly mention that I had no idea a buckle could be this cool. I couldn't be happier with the bag.

Great materials with an industrial style chic. I consistently get asked where it's from, what's the buckle all about, am I a ninja in my spare time, etc. Goes well with a dark suit and is perfect for the business casual atmosphere. Interior is roomy and large and holds everything from my lunch to my files to my gadgets to my Springfield XD subcompact (Chris widened a pocket for me. Great customer service btw!) Worth every penny to have a waterproof, stylish everyday bag that you don't see other people carrying.

A true smuggler's bag, I can fit two day's worth of clothes, Nexus 7, and a laptop (with plugs) on a work trip, and fly without checking bags... This is a deal maker.
The two long pockets just under the flap are great for pens, pencils, pocket protectors, snacks, and small flat brochures/maps.
The main compartment has the laptop holder and a small section for notebooks. Dump everything else in, buckle up and get rolling!

Loving my new Square large bag - great size messenger, decent selection of pockets, the buckle is very satisfying to open and close, and best of all people have noticed the bag and asked me where I got it from - result!

This is a great bag, never knew I could get so excited by recycled tarp, bike tubes and seatbelts! Sure it will out last me as well.
